Jasmine Quiroga, Oakland born painter, henna artist, & aspiring teacher, was first influenced by her father who was a prolific sketch artist. At a young age she was inspired by the street art in her hometown, which showed her how to color outside the lines. She paints the things she finds intriguing such as koi fish, fantastic and mythical creature, and muerto style animal skeletons. Jasmineβs unique painting style is a combination of tattoo aesthetic, cartoons of the 1990s, ukiyo-e and graffiti. She creates her own solo paintings but thrives in creating collaborative murals with youth members at the REACH Ashland Youth Center, where she works as a youth staff teaching artist. Finding mentors Joaquin Newman and Jerarde Gutierrez was pivotal to her journey and discovering her artistic talents.
She wants to paint the world with a splash of her color.
